About Post 235

We gather to serve veterans, youth, and the community as Matthew's only organic veterans organization.

The American Legion is the nation's largest and most prominent veteran's organization. However, declining membership and a false negative perception of the Legion threatens the impact and legacy of the American Legion.

Post 235 located in Matthews, North Carolina seeks to restore the legacy and prominence of the American Legion. We are committed to serving the town of Matthews' veterans, youth, and community by promoting the historic culture and values of the American Legion.

The post welcomes all service members who serve or who have served at least one day of federal active duty during any of the qualifying war campaign periods. We are always looking for members who are passionate about the vision of Post 235 and its efforts to serve Matthews' military and civic community.

Post 235 is on the move! Will you join us?

How the American Legion is Structured as an Organization

The American Legion National Headquarters is in Indianapolis, IN: www.legion.org

The American Legion operates through its State-level "Departments".  Our Department is the Department of North Carolina: www.nclegion.org

The Department of North Carolina is organized into Divisions, and within each Division are several Districts.  Individual Posts, where members reside and the activities of the American Legion are carried out, are organized within these Districts.  Our Matthews Post 235 is contained within the 20th District, IV Division of the Department of North Carolina.
